DraftParty’s 2010 Mock Draft 5.0 2/12/2010

1. Rams – DT Ndamukong Suh Nebraska

Can the Rams afford to pass on another franchise QB? No, no they cannot. But I will stick with Suh as the pick until I see Bradford/Clausen throw in workouts.

2. Lions -  DT Gerald Mccoy  Oklahoma

This is an easy pick. While LT is a huge need, McCoy is just a better player than Okung and Detroit needs an explosive DT.

3. Bucs – S Eric Berry  Tennessee

The two players that the Bucs wanted are both gone so they have a tough decision to make. I believe in taking the best player available when picking in the top 10 so Berry is the pick. They could even consider moving him over to CB.

redskinslogo4. Redskins – LT Russell Okung  Oklahoma St.

A QB is really tempting but that offensive line is awful and it all starts up front with the Left Tackle. Maybe we will get to see some Colt Brennan next year?

5. Chiefs – ILB Rolando McClain  Alabama

Branden Albert is a solid LT, so I can’t see the pick being offensive line. The Chiefs love building their front 7 and ILB is a huge need.

6. Seahawks – QB Sam Bradford  Oklahoma

Seattle desperately needs a franchise QB and Bradford could really benefit from watching Hasslebeck. Alex Gibbs will find his LT later on.

brownslogo7. Browns – CB Joe Haden  Florida

Remember when the Browns were a lock to get Suh? Well, they finished strong and now have to “settle” for a lockdown cover corner.

8. Raiders -  LT Anthony Davis Rutgers

This is not an Al Davis pick but it is a necessary one if they want to build their power running game. Who knows, maybe even Jamarcus Russell will play better as a result of more time to throw.

billslogo9. Bills -  QB Jimmy Clausen Notre Dame

The Bills are not happy with Trent Edwards, so if they have a shot at an elite QB, they need to take it. New Head Coach, new QB, new start in Buffalo.

10. Broncos – DT Dan Williams Tennessee

The Broncos are desperate for talent on the D-line and interior O-line. NT Williams has rocketed up boards due to his play late in the season and at the Senior Bowl.

jagslogo11. Jags - DE Derrick Morgan  GT

The team is going back to a 4-3 base and they need help in the pass-rushing department. Morgan is the perfect 4-3 left DE.

dolphinslogo12. Dolphins - WR Dez Bryant  Oklahoma St.

While Parcells might not like taking a WR in the 1st round, he will sure like taking the best player available here. There are plenty of solid pass-rushers to be had in the 2nd round.

13. 49ers – RB CJ Spiller  Clemson

The 49ers can afford this luxury pick with two 1st round picks. Spiller will be a nightmare for defenses teamed up with Gore and should be an impact return man as well.

14. Seahawks -  DE Everson Griffen  USC

The remaining offensive tackles have questions regarding their ability on the left side, so the Seahawks decide to upgrade their pass-rush with this pick. Griffen is an explosive DE who will test through the roof at the combine.

giantslogo15. Giants – DT Brian Price  UCLA

The Giants have solid defensive tackles if healthy but this pick is for the present and future. Price is as underrated as any player in the country and will make an immediate impact in the middle of the Giants’ D-line.

16. 49ers – OT Bryan Bulaga  Iowa

The 49ers decide to strengthen their running game of Gore/Spiller with Bulaga to play RT opposite Joe Staley.

17. Titans – DE Jason Pierre-Paul USF

The Titans are in desperate need of young pass-rushers at DE and JPP reminds them enough of a young Jevon Kearse to make this pick.

steelerslogo18. Steelers – S Earl Thomas Texas

Although slightly undersized, Thomas would be an elite ball-hawking presence in the Steelers’ secondary.

19. Falcons – DE Brandon Graham  Michigan

Jamaal Anderson has been awful in his pass-rush and the Falcons need someone other than John Abraham to get pressure. Graham and DT Peria Jerry give them a huge upgrade on the D-line.

20. Texans -  OG Mike Iupati Idaho

This team is on the rise but needs to improve their running game in order to control the ball against the division rival Colts. Iupati helps clear the way for their stable of backs.

bengalslogo21. Bengals – S Taylor Mays  USC

Considering Mays’ size and talent, he is a steal at this point and will benefit playing alongside Joseph and Hall in the secondary. His ability to stop the run will be huge playing against Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

patriotslogo22. Patriots – 34 OLB Sergio Kindle  Texas

The Patriots are in incredible shape with 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. They start things off by adding an experienced pass-rusher who is also solid against the run.

23. Packers – LT Bruce Campbell Maryland

It is no secret that the Packers’ offensive line held the team back this season. They shore up the future of the left side with this selection.

24. Eagles - CB Perrish Cox Oklahoma St.

The Eagles would have loved to take Brandon Graham at this point but he is gone and no other DE seems to fit. Instead, they take Cox to replace Brown as the starter opposite Samuel.

ravenslogo25. Ravens – WR Arrelious Benn Illinois

Derrick Mason can’t go on carrying the receiving corps much longer; they need to add someone that can get open. Benn is a super talented WR that struggled this season with terrible QB-play and injuries.

cardinalslogo26. Cardinals – ILB Brandon Spikes  Florida

With Karlos Dansby likely to leave in free agency, the Cardinals fill his place with Spikes. Spikes is a perfect 3-4 ILB that is great against the run and also has experience blitzing off the edge.

cowboyslogo27. Cowboys – OT/OG Trent Williams Oklahoma

The huge offensive line is getting old and Williams has the size and versatility to play all 5 positions along the line; although his primary position should be at RT.

28. Chargers – RB Jon Dwyer GT

The Chargers running game was pathetic last season so they take Dwyer to carry the load. He can either lose weight to get back to his quicker-Sophomore form or keep the weight to be Norv’s modern Stephen Davis.

jetslogo29. Jets – 34 OLB Jerry Hughes  TCU

Gholston hasn’t worked out and the Jets need an upgraded pass rush. Hughes is as explosive a pass rusher as anyone in the draft.

vikingslogo30. Vikings – S Chad Jones LSU

The Vikings do not have many holes to fill but they could upgrade the safety position with the tremendous physical talent of Jones.

31. Colts – OT/OG Vladimir Ducasse UMass

Ducasse is another versatile offensive linemen who could play either tackle or guard and would fit almost anywhere along the Colt’s offensive line.

32. Saints – OLB Sean Weatherspoon  Missouri

Vilma and Weatherspoon would make for a scary linebacking tandem if Vilma can keep Spoon’s head in the game; he is known for taking plays off at times.

33. St. Louis Rams- WR Damian Williams  USC

34. Detroit Lions- OT Charles Brown USC

35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- WR Golden Tate Notre Dame

36. Kansas City Chiefs- C Maurkice Pouncey Florida

37. Washington Redskins- RB Ryan Matthews Fresno St.

38. Oakland Raiders- DE Carlos Dunlap  Florida

39. Cleveland Browns- DE Jared Odrick Penn St.

40. Seattle Seahawks- WR Demaryius Thomas GT

41. Buffalo Bills- WR Brandon LaFell LSU

42. Miami Dolphins- 34 OLB Eric Norwood  South Carolina

43. New England Patriots- TE Jermaine Gresham Oklahoma

44. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- DT Lamarr Houston Texas

45. Denver Broncos- OG John Jerry Ole Miss

46. New York Giants- ILB Daryl Washington TCU

47. New England Patriots- DE Arthur Jones Syracuse

48. Carolina Panthers- DT Tyson Alualu California

49. San Francisco 49ers- CB Kyle Wilson Boise St.

50. Kansas City Chiefs- WR Mardy Gilyard Cincinnati

51. Houston Texans- CB Donovan Warren Michigan

52. Pittsburgh Steelers- DT Terrence Cody Alabama

53. Cincinnati Bengals- TE Rob Gronkowski Arizona

54. New England Patriots- RB Jahvid Best California

55. Philadelphia Eagles- DE Greg Hardy Ole Miss

56. Green Bay Packers- OG Jon Asamoah Illinois

57. Baltimore Ravens- CB Kareem Jackson Alabama

58. Arizona Cardinals- OLB Ricky Sapp Clemson

59. Dallas Cowboys- DE Alex Carrington Arkansas St.

60. San Diego Chargers- CB Patrick Robinson FSU

61. New York Jets- DE Vince Oghobaase Duke

62. Minnesota Vikings- DT Cam Thomas North Carolina

63. Indianapolis Colts- OLB Navorro Bowman Penn St.

64. New Orleans Saints- DE Corey Wootton Northwestern

  1. the eagles are going to get in the 1st round a earl thomas and the second they are going to get brandon spikes the the eagles have 2 third rounds and we get for the first one we get Kareem Jackson,Syd’Quan Thompson,Javier Arenas,Patrick Robinson and are other one we get Jermaine Cunningham

    1
  2. 6. Seattle Seahawks pick Sam Bradford
——Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. I hate it. I despise it. Bad. Seahawks need an offensive tackle more badly than anything else. Bradford won’t do ANYTHING in the NFL without protection. Would David Carr be a bad QB if he was drafted anywhere but Houston? I believe he’d be an average starting NFL QB right now. He had no protection, was brought into an awful situation, and was sacked an NFL record # of times. Now with the Giants when he takes a snap he looks at his offensive line first and then his receivers because he simply doesn’t trust offensive lines anymore. Watch it, it’s actually pretty hilarious. Anyways, Bradford won’t do anything without protection. Walter Jones is gone. Who will be protecting the QB? And even if Hasselbeck would start day one with Bradford there, who would protect Hasselbeck? How can this team possibly get better without protection? And then why would FAs come to Seattle if they can’t even get their quarterback protected and they can’t win games? Hasselbeck will be servicable the next 3 years. They need a left tackle. And chances are that Bradford or Clausen would fall to 14! Sorry to trash the pick like that, but drafting a QB at 6 would be downright awful, especially when they then go and not draft a LT at 14 or their 2nd rounder. In fact it’d be a great pick if you gave the Seahawks Bulaga at 14. But if Seattle wants to get better, they need the LT. Period.
–Seahawks Pick Grade: D because no LT was drafted. Would be A if they drafted an offensive lineman.
–Mocker Grade: D for the reason above.

    7. Cleveland Browns pick Joe Haden
—–Okay your back on track. He, along with Clausen, are the only possible picks here. Jerome Harrison proved that Spiller shouldn’t be the pick. They just drafted two WRs in the 2nd so Dez is out of the question. A corner is a clear need. The thing that supports Clausen going here is Holmgren saying that one of DA or BQ will be out before training camp. But I’m guessing if you had a 3rd or a free agency section that a QB would be picked. So I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Haden is the pick.
    –Browns Pick Grade: A
    –Mocker Pick Grade: A-

    8. Oakland Raiders pick Anthony Davis
—–Great pick. Raiders need the offensive tackle. Badly. Anthony Davis is easily my favorite LT in the draft (though admitedly not saying much cause I hate tackles in this draft class). He got BURNED by Cincinnati in week one but then quickly found his way back on everyone’s radar. Stick him at left tackle and Gallery will be back at left guard and McFadden can be used fully to his potential and Gradkowski/Frye/Russell/Free Agent/Draft Pick/UDFA will be able to have enough time in the pocket to fully utilize the speed of DHB. See how that works? Left tacles are so dang important. Perfect pick.
    –Raiders Pick Grade: A
    –Mocker Grade: A

    9. Buffalo Bills pick Jimmy Clausen
—–Steal of the century? Clausen is everything you need in a quarterback. The best QB to come out since Vince Young IMO (say what you want, I’m talking about as a prospect. And hindsight is 20/20. But most thought VY was going to be something special. Maybe not so far, but he definitely still could be). While a piece to help Buffalo in their transition to the 3-4 is more likely here (cause Clausen will undoubtedly be gone in real life) if Clausen ends up falling to the Bills as a Jet fan I’d start kicking myself. The only pick to make there.
    –Bills Pick Grade: A
    –Mocker Pick Grade: A

    10. Denver Broncos pick Dan Williams
—–Can’t say much about this pick, because it’s the only pick to make. Perfect pick, perfect explanation. However, I do not like Dan Williams to much. It’s probably just me, I don’t know. I can’t even explain why I don’t like him. But there’s a reason I’m not an NFL GM. Williams is the only guy that makes sense there.
    –Broncos Pick Grade: A-
    –Mocker Pick Grade: A-

    2
  3. 1. Saint Louis Rams pick Ndamukong Suh
—–My gut feeling is Clausen to the Rams at #1. However, Suh is by far the #1 prospect in the draft and the Rams can’t go wrong with Suh here. The best and safest pick in the draft.
    –Rams Pick Grade: A
    –Mocker Grade: A-

    2. Detroit Lions pick Gerald McCoy
—–Probably the 2nd safest pick of the draft. Detroit’s defense is laughable at best and building their DL is the place to start. McCoy is gold here for Detroit, and likely the pick that they will make.
    –Lions Pick Grade: A
    –Mocker Grade: A

    3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers pick Eric Berry
—–Yet another safe pick and, if Suh and McCoy go 1 and 2, probably the best player available and probably who the Bucs would pick. However safeties don’t deserve to go third. Heck, Sean Taylor didn’t even go in the top 5. Sabby Pischetti is doing a fine enough job at strong safety that Berry here isn’t much of a need. Think Dez Bryant here. And BTW if they draft Berry with the intention of moving him to corner they may as well draft Haden because Berry is a better athlete and better safety but Haden is a pure corner.
    –Buccaneers Pick Grade: C+
    –Mocker Grade: A-

    4. Washington Redskins pick Russell Okung
—–I personally do not like Russell Okung as much as you do, in fact none of the offensive tackles look great in my opinion and the only offensive tackle even first round worthy IMO is Anthony Davis. OL is a HUGE need for many teams though, so possibly 5 offensive tackles will be first round selections. The Redskins need an offensive tackle more than anything but the player is a stretch. The Redskins would be fools to not trade down but since you don’t have trades in this mock I won’t penalize your grade. The Redskins, if they stay put, I suppose should draft Okung. So…
    –Redskins Pick Grade: B+
    –Mocker Pick Grade: A-

    5. Kansas City Chiefs pick Rolando McClain
—–In my mock I have Eric Berry actually falling here at 5. And if that happens, KC would take Berry and run. However he’s not available in this draft and Rolando is the perfect pick to make. If the Chiefs keep working on improving that defense they can be a team to look out for in the next decade given their increadible coaching personnel. McClain is my 2nd best ILB prospect (I still love Brandon Spikes even though guys like Kiper have him falling into the mid-2nd round. Spikes’ fall reminds me a lot of Laurinaitis’). Anyways KC is fine at QB, RB, WR, LT, and DE. They could use help at S or CB here but with Berry gone no one is worthy at safety and between McClain and Haden it’s close but McClain has got to be the pick.
    –Chiefs Pick Grade: A
    –Mocker Grade: A

Will analyze 6-10 sometime tomorrow maybe.

    3
  4. Mark My Words. Myron Rolle WILL be a 2nd rounder at minimum. Smartest man in the draft, outperformed Taylor Mays in the physical drills (timed speed, agility, jumping) at the Senior Bowl… Rolle will be the best S in the draft outside of Berry and someone will take him on day 1.

    4
  5. Good job on the Jets picks. Watching Kareem Jackson and Patrick Robinson almost fall to us would be painful… especially Jackson. I know you can’t mock trades, but in this scenario the Jets (who have a history of moving up to get their man) would likely jump up a few picks to snag Kareem Jackson… he’s an ideal fit next to Revis.

    5
  6. RavensFan33 says:

JPP at 17? No way he falls that far. Decent Ravens draft but I doubt we take a receiver in round one, aside from Dez Bryant there arent any worth the pick and Ozzie will not reach for players.

    6
  7. Recordblender says:

There is no way on God’s green earth that the seahawks don’t pick at least one offensive lineman with the first three picks in the draft. We are not going to go after a spread quarterback, and Everson Griffen will NOT break into the top 15, PERIOD. Good mock overall, but once again another mock having the hawks reaching or grabbing players that don’t fit their scheme at all.

    7
  8. the eagles are not going to get a CB in the frist round they are going to get earl thomas and in the second they are going to get brandon spikes and the eagles have two third round picks they get Syd’Quan Thompson and in the other one they get Major Wright yeah they should do that

    8
  9. Hey Good Job on the mock draft guys, I think the patriots should take Sean Weatherspoon instead of Sergio kindle. Sergio is a good pass rusher but the Patriots need a big time play maker in Sean. Sean is a solid tackler while Sergio Is shaky on tackles and gives up on a lot of plays. But good job!

    9
  10. Solid Broncos pick, and overall good mock

    10
  11. The Mock Draft is now updated 2/12/2010.

    11
  12. Somebody needs to do something about Al Davis. If not for his complete stupidity then for making it so hard to predict a draft.

    12
  13. I don’t like Damian Williams at 27 with Golden Tate Still on the board. Tate is a little bit undersized but you can’t deny his productivity.

    13
  14. No way the Eagles take JPP at 24. Look for them to move up in the 1st to take
Brandon Graham. Then move up in the 2nd to take S /Reshad Jones, physical safety who can cover one on one. Taylor Mays and Chad Jones may look good but you have to cover at FS in the Eagles scheme.

    14
  15. I like your draft for the most part except for our pick at #4 it would be complete ludacris to take anything but the best tackle available it wouldnt matter if u put john elway behind the online we had last year. y would u throw a young QB behind our o-line and ruin him like that. Our O-Line was bad enough to spend the first two picks on lineman

    15
  16. My thinking is that Edwards could leave for FA and try to financially capitalize on playing next to Allen and the Williams Wall. Also Dunlap here is pretty good value (you gotta think the media will blow him up over the next 3 months due to his size/speed).

    16
  17. Carlos Dunlap to the Viks? There are a couple things wrong with that. First the vikings already have two great ends in ray edwards and jared allen who are both still young. And two Dunlap’s stock has dropped to the second round after his suspension. Otherwise good draft.

    17
  18. Chris Georges says:

Hey good work with the site this is my first time on it and it seems bookmark-able. Great draft, finally someone agrees that the Chiefs will go with McClain if Berry’s not there (or even if he is).

    18
  19. Freshgman says:

This is one of the best Mocks I’ve seen so far and i love all the videos great job. However, as a Giants fan i don’t see us settling for Taylor Mays from Usc when we could possibly get Chad Jones early in the 2nd round. For the first pick of the Giants i either see us taking Price if he’s still there or Sergio Kindle he’d be the perfect replacement for Danny Clark. Brian Price would also make a good partner with Barry Coefield since fred robbins is slowly on the decline.

    19
  20. Kindle is a nice pick for the Pats, but I think Wooten will be more highly valued, having traded away Richard Seymour.

    20
  21. Brian Price is not a very good fit as a 34 end.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bills draft Sam Bradford, but word is they are looking for a strong arm to throw through the wind over there. Besides he would get killed behind that OL. Campbell could be an option in Buffalo.
Gresham is a great pick for the Bengals, IMO.
JPP to Eagles? No way. Doesn’t fit their system in the least.

    21
  22. I think the Pats have a chance of getting LaDanian Tomlinson on the cheap if SD decides to cut him this off season.

    22
  23. I believe his comment was on the previous mock draft

    23
  24. umm… there are only 3 safeties and one of them is earl thomas!
    comment for PIMPIN

    24
  25. Maverick from bonertown says:

i dont see the raiders passing on Taylor Mays… what say you?

    25
  26. Very good post. Thanks for sharing.

    26
  27. I really like the Texans, Steelers and Cowboys pick.

I still think the Redskins draft OL with their 1st pick.

    27
  28. The Pats desperately need a starting RB. Maroney isn’t the answer and should probably get cut, while Faulk and Morris are old and strictly situational backs. BB would be stupid not to take Spiller at #22 if he’s still there (and that’s a very big “if”).

    28
  29. I agree but everywhere you look nowadays, teams are getting by with mid-late round RBs. Can Spiller be a full-time RB like Chris Johnson? I have my doubts. However, falling to pick 30 with his talent is unlikely.

    29
  30. CJ Spiller falls all the way to the 30th pick? I don’t see that happening, especially after the coming pro days and combine. I don’t see him falling past the 15th pick.

    30
  31. Dude we killed it on this mock!

    31
  32. juice_hawk says:

k i checked ur vid of eric berry and come away a lot more satisfied then any tape on curry ever.

    32
  33. juice_hawk says:

this is the best mock I could ever see for the seahawks. is we dont get thru on rumors of b marshall I really luv this scenario. if we get marshall hopefully we can pik up cj. I really dnt see why eric berry is this awsomeness. last year there was much talk on aaron curry and I was not sold and think he played horrible compared to what godly football powers he possesed according to most everyone. well see wat norton can do with him tho. great site guyz…very nice work.

    33
  34. 4 safeties in the first and none of them named Earl Thomas? Update please.

    34
  35. OMG, i am a big Gators and Patriots fan, so one of my biggest dreams is to have the pats to draft either Brandon Spikes or Carlos Dunlap..

I’m from Denmark, so im sorry for my bad english..

    35
  36. You guys are life savers…keep it up.

    36
