Cons: Plays too high at times/needs to play with better leverage, hasn’t shown an elite burst off the line due to defensive scheme

2. gmccoy   DT Gerald McCoy   6′4 295 Oklahoma Junior

Pros: Elite burst off the line, speed and quickness are that of a defensive-end, thick/strong lower- body, played his best games against elite competition (Florida and Texas)

Cons: Small/weak upper-body, average instincts/runs himself out of plays, disappeared in games at times, might need to bulk up from 295 lbs to handle big interior linemen

 3. berry   FS Eric Berry   6′0 211 Tennessee Junior

Pros: Ideal size/speed, terrific instincts and ball skills, one of the greatest interception-return men of all time, explosive and fluid in coverage, played CB, FS, and SS at Tennessee, hard-hitter/comfortable in run-support

Cons: Needs to wrap up against RBs instead of going for the big hit

10. haden    CB Joe Haden   5′11 193 Florida Junior

Pros: Excellent athlete with great speed, above average hips and fluidity, stays low in back pedal and explodes out of it on short routes, can run with most receivers, can be physical

Pros: Has the speed and fluidity of a cornerback, good instincts with great ball skills, physical for his size and can hit

  1. I will update the overall rankings soon and Thomas could be moving up but the difference is due to the fact that Bryant produced in a balanced offense running a variety of routes. Thomas played in the option offense, so we don’t know how good his route tree looks and what his exact speed is (due to the broken foot). However in terms of speed, both look just fine on film (4.4 range) so basically the polish of Bryant is the main reason.

  2. MikeinIndy says:

Love the cutups and the mock…but why do you have Dez Bryant so high and Demaryious Thomas so low? Thomas has a great combo of size and speed to go with his hands and his big body. Both are great and I appreciate your response.

    2
  3. Can you expand on that statement without repeatedly using the word “potential”? His film, his stats, and the fact that he has only played 1 year of division 1 ball do not equal a top 5 prospect in my opinion.

  4. RavensFan33 says:

you are insanely low on Jason Pierre-Paul, easily a top 5 prospect
