WR Damian Williams Scouting Report

September 19, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Damian Williams 6′1 195 USC Junior

vs. Notre Dame 2009

Stats: 4 rec. 108 yds. 2 tds

Game Analysis:

- Reliable/ great hands/ good slant route for 1st TD

- Slippery after the catch and outran everyone for a long 2nd TD

- Runs great routes and knows how to get open

vs. Cal 2009

Stats: 8 rec. 101 yds. 1 punt return TD

Game Analysis: Williams had a dominating game against Cal. He was a consistent possession receiver on offense and an explosive return man on special teams. He was slippery after the catch and showed good hands all game. He had an incredible punt return TD on which he showed off his quicks and great, but not elite, speed. I think Williams will make a great possession receiver in the NFL and should be on the fringe of the first round.

vs. Ohio State 2009

Stats: 5 rec 51 yds

Game Analysis: The stat line is quite pedestrian for Williams but you have to remember that he is playing with a freshman QB on the road in a hostile environment. While Williams lacks elite speed, he makes up for it with his quickness and sharp routes. He runs a great slant route and beat the OSU defender on one in the game to give Barkley an easy target. He also had a very difficult reception on an out route where he had to go up high for the ball. He did however have one drop on a play-action, comeback route where he failed his freshman QB.
