WR Mike Williams Scouting Report

November 02, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Mike Williams 6′2 204 Syracuse Senior

vs. South Florida 2009

Stats: 13 rec. 186 yds. 2 tds

Game Analysis: Williams had a monster game against USF. He gets a lot of separation on deep routes and has amazing body control to go up high and snatch the ball. Most of his highlights from this game were him jumping up in the air over everybody else and hauling in a big play. This is a very impressive WR that is soaring up draft boards.

RB Evan Royster Scouting Report

November 02, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Evan Royster 6′1 213 Penn State Junior

vs. Iowa 2009

Stats: 17 carr. 69 yds. 1 fumble

Game Analysis: There is nothing dynamic about Royster… his speed is average, his quickness is average, but his toughness and consistency make him stand out. On this night however, a rare inconsistent night, Royster cost his team the game with two crucial mistakes. He let a pass bounce right off his hands in the fourth quarter which allowed the Iowa defense to intercept it and run it in for a TD. On the following drive, during a nice 10 yd run, he fumbled it to seal the win for Iowa. I hope he comes back strong next week.

RB Charles Scott Scouting Report

November 02, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Charles Scott 6′1 234 LSU Senior

vs. Georgia 2009

Stats: 19 carr. 95 yds. 2 tds.

Game Analysis: Scott is a tough, physical runner with okay lateral movement and decent burst in the open field. He makes most of his big plays by lowering his shoulders and running over defenders, and that is exactly what he did against Georgia. He was consistently a hassle to bring down and though he had mostly runs less than 10 yards most of the game, he had two big plays in the fourth quarter that put LSU on top. The first was a 15 yd screen pass where he plowed his way to the first down. The second was a long TD run to seal the win on a play in which he broke a couple of tackles near the line of scrimmage and then accelerated to the end zone. Teams in need of a power back will love him as he is comparable to a poor man’s Brandon Jacobs.

RB Ryan Mathews Scouting Report

November 02, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Ryan Mathews 5′11 220 Fresno State Junior

vs New Mexico St.

Stats: 25 carr. 157 yds 2 tds 1 rec. 27 yds

- Great size/speed combo

- Fantastic job helping out his QB and getting open on a broken play to pick up 27 yards

- Had a leap into the endzone from the 1 yard line for his 1st TD/ hurdled a defender and turned on the jets for a long 2nd TD

- Running style reminds me of UConn’s Donald Brown

OT Trent Williams Scouting Report

November 01, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Trent Williams 6′5 318 Oklahoma Senior

vs. Texas 2009

Game Analysis:

- Much better game this week than the game against Miami

- Showed a great kick step and then strong inside protection all game/ solid but not spectacular

- Will struggle vs elite passrushers/ got badly beat once around the edge which is something that can’t happen

vs. Miami 2009

 Highlights: 7  Lowlights: 2

Game Analysis: I remember some people thought Williams had a shot as a top 5 pick at LT but that will almost certainly not be the case. He looks slow in his kick step, a lot like Andre Smith who will be a RT in the NFL. He got absolutely destroyed once in pass protection which is something an elite LT should never have happen. He does however have great power in the run game so that will elevate him to the first round but not the top 10.
