CB Trevard Lindley Scouting Report

September 28, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Trevard Lindley 6′0 179 Kentucky Senior

vs Louisville 2009

Highlights: 1  Lowlights: 2

Game Analysis: Lindley was only challenged 3 times against Louisville but he got beat 2 of those times. On one deep pass, he actually had good coverage but a perfect throw beats perfect coverage anytime so it is hard to fault him. He had a nice pass break up in the endzone where he was able to get his hand on the ball and deflect it from the WR. I love Lindley’s long arms and good speed.

CB Ras-I Dowling Scouting Report

September 28, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Ras-I Dowling 6′2 200 Virginia Junior

vs TCU 2009

Highlights: 2  Lowlights: 2

Game Analysis: From first glance, you can see that this kid has a big, great body. He is tall with long arms, just like a top corner should be. His speed is good but not elite. One of his lowlights was down in the redzone where he seemed afraid to go up against a lineman on a goal line run. He got easily blocked and TCU scored a TD. The second lowlight, he got beat on a post but he seemed to be expecting safety help so it might not have been his fault.

WR Brandon LaFell Scouting Report

September 28, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Brandon LaFell 6′3 206 LSU Senior

vs Lousiana-Lafayette 2009

Stats: 3 rec. 57 yds 2 tds

Game Analysis: LaFell only caught 3 passes but 2 of them went for TDs. He showed off his great speed and explosiveness on the first one; he caught a WR screen and turned it upfield for a score. The second was just a nice deep out on which he was able to get separation. LaFell’s combination of size and speed will make him a top prospect in the 2010 draft.

QB Jake Locker Scouting Report

September 28, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Jake Locker 6′3 226 Washington Junior

vs. Notre Dame 2009

Stats: 22/39 281 yds. 2 tds. 0 ints.

Game Analysis: Locker is getting top-5 hype nowadays and while I like him, I am not ready to put him there yet. He’s got the arm (perhaps the best in college football), size, and mobility of a top 5 prospect but he does have a couple of issues. He takes a lot of risks and floats deep passes, which is something that he can easily fix. He has great accuracy even when throwing to the sideline on the run. Locker stiff-armed a DB on a long run. He is fantastic in crunch time (just as he has been in previous weeks) and had two great drives during the last 2 minutes of the 1st and 2nd half. His rocket arm really shows on these drives as he is able to push the ball downfield into small windows.

vs USC 2009

Stats: 21/35 237 yds 0 td 0 int 1 rushing td

Game Analysis: Locker was able to lead his team to a win over the mighty USC Trojans and certainly captured a lot of the national spotlight as well. He seems to be putting his great talent to use now that he has Sarkisian coaching him. Locker has a NFL arm and threw a few great deep passes along the sideline against USC. He was very accurate in this game and did a great job throwing on the run. His offensive line deserves a lot of credit as well for giving him time to throw.

LB Rennie Curran Scouting Report

September 19, 2009 By: DraftParty Category: College Football

Rennie Curran 5′11 228 Georgia Junior

vs South Carolina 2009

Highlights: 10  Lowlights: 3

Game Analysis: Curran will be looked down upon by people because of his size but while he lacks size, he does not lack heart or determination. Curran had a great second half in this game in which he showed impressive speed, coverage, and open field tackling. On a 4th down, on a game deciding play on which South Carolina had to score to win, Curran made the game winning pass deflection by staying in the middle of the field and jumping up to knock down the pass. His lack of size will occasionally get him in trouble with big offensive linemen (he did a pretty good job taking on blocks in this game but the NFL will be a different story), but this is a guy that I would love to have on my team. He is strictly a 4-3 WOLB.
